Clients often ask, "How can I keep my flowers from dying so quickly?" My response is always very simple. FRESH WATER!! But these other tips can help...
#1 - CLEAN WATER. Flowers like to drink clean water just like you and me. When I have fresh flowers in my home, I change the water daily.
#2 - A FRESH CUT. Giving your flower stem a fresh cut at an angle will open up the veins in the stem. This allows them to pull in as much fresh water as possible. I do this when I have a small posy. Larger arrangements will be difficult if you do not have designing experience. Your arrangement can lose its shape if not done properly.
#3 - A PENNY. Yes, adding a penny to your vase can help your flowers live longer. The penny acts as an antibacterial agent and prevents bacteria from growing.
#4 - SUGAR. This is what I call a floral sugar rush!! Fresh flowers love sugar. The sugar helps nourish the bloom, flowers open up looking lovely.
But if you don't do anything else because you dont have the time...
JUST CHANGE THE WATER!!!!!!
Fresh water, fresh cut, a penny and a tiny bit of sugar is everything your flowers will need to stick around a few days longer :0)
